Grinnell is Active
Grinnell is sort of unique and nice in that it's very walkable, and very accessible. So there's parks right next to our downtown. And a lot of the services are in a small area. There really is quite a bit to do, and a lot of opportunity here in the community. Everything from where you eat to where you can go shopping, and really just kind of having a diverse set of opportunities here in our community. Every other Friday at a Grinnell Heritage Farm. They have pizza dinners that have pulled from the college, but also the larger community and people from other towns as well. Our on Farm Woodfire Pizza events-- it's a really great way to get an introductory to the farm, because we not only serve you a really good, you know, buffet dinner, but you'll also have access to wagon rides that will give you an entire farm tour. I think that restaurant owners and foodies are sort of converging on this place. Because there's a lot of producers within a 20 mile radius of Grinnell, who are growing fruits and vegetables, who are raising organic livestock. We're providing really interesting foods to use in restaurants. It allows me to be a lot more creative in my culinary arts. The International flavor that Grinnell College brings in, I get to throw a lot of stuff out there. Different things that people will try and hopefully enjoy. From a sort of city or civic kind of perspective. I do think we offer an amazing array of things. Frankly, our downtown is is beautiful. It's lots of beautiful brick buildings. And you know, and folks have done a great job of fixing them up. Folks are very thoughtful here about thinking about architecture, and keeping the community looking really good. We have a community that's made a commitment to health and wellness, and we have bike trails throughout the community. We have a fantastic water park. We have a disc golf course, you have to go out to Rock Creek State Park. It's a beautiful park only about seven miles outside of town. And it's fabulous. We've got a place to swim, boat rentals in the summer. I think one of the coolest things about Grinnell is the parks, whether it's the Davis Elementary, we have a playground or it's Arnes Park. A lot of the parks have gardens ask them for edible landscaping. A lot of apple trees are at the parks. They're the given gardens, which are free, you can just come take produce at any of the gardens. And there are a lot of things to draw you to green spaces, which is really amazing. So there's plenty of to do, but also it's quiet enough that if you just want to sit down some some place and read a book. That's great. I hope people discover Grinnell as an interesting place to live as an interesting and unique place to work and ultimately as a fun place to be.
